Since Hayden Homes founded First Story in 1998, the nonprofit has served over 117 families through new home ownership opportunities in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. When you choose to purchase a Hayden Home, you are helping to provide a family the opportunity for homeownership.
First Story is committed to providing affordable homeownership opportunities to under-resourced families in the Northwest, breaking cycles of generational poverty. First Story has served more than 117 deserving families and awarded millions of dollars in grants to nonprofits working to strengthen their community.
First Story is focused on removing barriers and providing access to the life-changing value of homeownership. 100% of First Story homeowners earn less than 80% of area median income and are first-time homebuyers.
Since 1998, First Story has provided more than $2.4 million in Charitable Giving Grants to local nonprofits. Hayden Homes thoughtfully planned these grants to ensure they and their nonprofit recipients have a sustainable funding source in perpetuity. Hayden Homes established a charitable transfer fee, now known as the “Community Charitable Covenant;” each time a Hayden Home is sold, 1/8th of 1% (.00125) of the sale is donated to the nonprofit First Story.
Hayden Homes contributes a donation on the initial sale of every home in the new homeowner’s name to fund First Story’s affordable homeownership opportunities for under-resourced families. The Community Charitable Covenant automatically carries forward when the home sells again, with 1/8th of 1% of every resale going directly to First Story’s Charitable Giving Grants. One hundred percent of all community charitable fees collected with the resale of every Hayden Home are invested back into the home-owner’s community through donations to charitable organizations in the county where the dollars were generated.
Hayden Homes team members are passionate about First Story’s mission. Over 80% of our team members generously contribute to this worthwhile non-profit through a regular payroll deduction. Hayden Homes is proud to provide a 100% company match for every donated dollar.
Through First Story, Hayden Homes also partners with local government agencies, local housing authorities, nonprofits and helps deserving families realize their dreams of home ownership.
