Getting Organized

Do you have room, a closet, a garage or any other space in your home that you would love to have organized? Maybe it’s bothered you for a while but you haven’t had the time or desire to spend countless hours pulling, sorting, cleaning and organizing this space? Well, you’re not alone!

Spring is the perfect time to look at the rooms and spaces in your home and determine what needs to be organized. Or if that seems too overwhelming… and you don’t have the time, you may even want to hire a professional. Here we share the journey of one of our team members who decided to have a professional help organize her pantry, for the very first time, and the tips and tricks she learned from the organizer herself!

Here is a photo of her pantry BEFORE Karin Ferris, Professional Organizer in Central Oregon, came into her home and worked her magic.

Before Messy Pantry

Tip from the Professional – “First make the decision you want to get organized. Then take all of the stuff off the shelves and lay it all out.”

Here is all of the food in the pantry laid out on the counter.

Pull items to organize

Next, they cleaned up the pantry.

Empty Pantry Ready to be Organized

Tip from the Professional – “Make sure you have a place for the items you want to donate or toss. You’ll want to decide want you want to keep and what you want to toss.”

Then, begin to sort whatever it is you’re keeping into categories. This was the most interesting part of the process to see what categories they ended up with! Karin’s comment was that, “Every job is custom, due to the different categories you will end up with, it will change the labeling, size and type of containers you use for the various categories.”

Tip from the Professional – “When you’re organizing a pantry. Take your food items out of the box. If it’s possible the item might go stale- wrap it in a zip lock bag to keep it fresh or use clothespins (they make great sealing clips for bags). Taking items out of the boxes and packaging, as soon as you get home from the grocery store, will create MORE space and allow you to see the items better.”

Next, as you’re sorting and putting items into their categories, sort the items that you use most frequently and put them in a place where you have the most ease to access the various items. If it’s easy to use your newly organized space, it will help you stay organized in the long run.

Then, label your containers by category, put them back in the pantry and voila! You have a super organized space.

Here is her pantry AFTER the experience, nice and organized!

New Organized Pantry

You too can get organized. It’s easy, use these tips to help get the spaces in your home organized this spring!

Hayden Homes Largest Kennewick Community Set to Sell Out

Bridgewater Park Community Logo- NEWBridgewater Park is the largest new home community that Hayden Homes built in beautiful Kennewick, Washington.  With only 2 homes remaining, the community is set to sell out by June of 2016 thanks to a committed team of  Construction & Community Managers and over 150 Happy Hayden Homeowners.

Opened in 2011 and developed by Hayden Homes, this convenient and affordable new home community was the largest of many for Hayden Homes in the Kennewick, Washington area. The community is located in a desirable part of West Kennewick off Clearwater and Utah nestled within a conveniently located, highly desirable neighborhood, with easy access to shopping, and the freeway.

In October 2014, one of the homes in Bridgewater Park was dedicated to a FIRST STORY FAMILY! First Story’s dedication in Kennewick was received by Kenneth & Jolene Smith and their two kiddos. They were referred to us by their Realtor, who recognized the family’s need for an affordable housing opportunity after they realized they were outgrowing their current rental home in Burbank, and weren’t sure Kenny’s income would afford them a new home.  The Smith’s home marked the 50th home built by First Story which was established by Hayden Homes in 1998.

An affordable place to call home, Bridgewater Park provides its homeowners prime location in the flourishing city of Kennewick.

Congratulations to all!

Hayden Homes Dream Backyard Giveaway: Let the Designing Begin!

Follow the Labelle’s Backyard Transformation

The $25,000 dream backyard planning is officially underway! Hayden Homes CEO Dennis Murphy visited our Corbin Crossing community in Hayden, Idaho, Sunday, Dec. 6, to sit down with the lucky winner, Tyler Labelle and his wife Paula, to bounce around some initial ideas.

Dream Backyard
CEO, Dennis Murphy and the Labelle’s Designing their Dream Backyard!

Since moving into their new Hayden Home earlier this year, the Labelles have not yet done any landscaping in their back yard, leaving basically a blank slate to work with. On their backyard wish list is a barbecue island with pizza oven, covered patio and trellis, play structure for their two young children, patio heaters to keep warm during the cool North Idaho springs and summer evenings, and a garden shed.

Dennis jotted down their ideas, as well as some suggestions    of his own, including landscape lighting and patio pavers, and penciled out a preliminary sketch of the Labelles’ soon-to-be dream backyard. Now, as the Labelles finalize their ideas and plans, it’s a waiting game for spring to come!

In the meantime, Dennis left Tyler and Paula with a couple of his favorite landscaping books on Pacific Northwest gardens to help the lucky winners choose some beautiful shrubs and plants to help their back yard come alive.

Stay tuned for this spring, when we anxiously watch as the Labelles’ back yard transforms into their dream

We will be sharing images throughout makeover through the Labelle’s first party in their new backyard.

Hayden Homes $25,000 Dream Backyard Giveaway!
Tyler Labelle wins the $25,000 Dream Backyard Giveaway!

Tyler Labelle thought he was meeting his parents as they shopped for a new home in his Hayden Homes neighborhood, Corbin Crossing. Instead he was surprised by an entourage of people, balloons, cheers and champagne as Hayden Homes announced him winner of the $25,000 Dream Backyard Giveaway.

Labelle’s name was drawn from among thousands who entered at Hayden Homes’ neighborhoods and on the company website throughout the summer. The Post Falls native purchased a home from Hayden Homes in Corbin Crossing in July. His parents helped Hayden Homes plan the surprise presentation by telling Tyler they were interested in visiting the model home and making an appointment.

“That’s a lot of money and this whole thing is very surreal,” said Tyler Labelle after being stunned with the good news. His wife, Paula, already has great ideas for their dream backyard space.

The Labelle’s will work with Hayden Homes Chief Executive Officer Dennis Murphy to design their outdoor space beginning with a meeting next month. “It will be a fun process helping them define their dream. It could be anything from a super-sized play area for the kids, to a gazebo, seating area and kitchen,” said Murphy. Plans will progress through the winter so crews can begin work on the Dream Backyard next spring.

Tyler Labelle is a Post Falls native and veteran of the United States Air Force who served an active tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2011. He and his wife have two young children. Labelle is now employed as a CAD designer. In addition to being a busy employee, father and husband –he is continuing his education.
