Summer Activities in the Pacific Northwest

Summer Activities in the Pacific Northwest
It’s officially summer! The days are longer, the nights cooler, and the kids are out of school. It can be challenging finding fun summertime activities to keep your entire family entertained, so we’re here to help!
In addition to the many fun outdoor recreation activities, we gathered a roundup of fun summer events happening near our new home communities in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

Idaho Summer Activities

Paul Bunyan Days: Labor Day weekend comes alive during St. Maries’ annual Paul Bunyan Days! This three-day festival is filled with logging competitions, water events, moto-cross races, carnival rides and more.
Rathdrum Days: Rathdrum Days is a fun celebration of all things Rathdrum. Enjoy live music, street dancing, beer garden, a classic car cruise, and the annual community parade. There’s plenty of fun activities for the entire family.
Family Art Saturday at the Boise Art Museum: Head to the Boise Art Museum on the last Saturday of the month for a hands-on art workshop that’s perfect for kids 12 years and under (children must be accompanied by an adult). Free with the price of museum admission (BAM Members are free).
Canyon County Fair: Find your fun at the Canyon County Fair! Enjoy the carnival rides, concerts, live stage acts, 4-H and FFA market livestock shows, Latino Festival, and lots more!
Idaho Botanical Gardens: The Garden is in full bloom during the summer and is a great place to explore during the warmer months. There’s plenty of fun events happening around the Botanical Gardens all summer long, including Bug Day, the Outlaw Field Summer Concert Series and Great Garden Escape.
Explore the Nampa and Caldwell Greenbelts: The growing pathway system is perfect for walkers, joggers, and cyclists.
Here are some more great Treasure Valley area events to enjoy all summer long.

Oregon Summer Activities

Munch and Music Series: Hayden Homes is a proud co-presenter of Munch & Music in Drake Park! This free live music series happens every Thursday evening from July 11th through August 15th in Bend. Enjoy a free music concert, dining, shopping, and youth activities in the kids zone.
Balloons Over Bend: Bring the family out to watch the skies above Bend become filled with the bright colors of hot air balloons. There are several fun events happening over the weekend, including a Children’s Festival and Balloon Blast Kid’s Race, and the Night Glow!
Deschutes County Fair & Rodeo: The annual county fair is always a highlight of the summer. This year the Deschutes County Fair will be celebrating its centennial!
Blackberry Jam Festival: The Blackberry Jam festival is a family-friendly community event featuring lots of blackberry jam, great music, car show, fishing derby, quilt show, parade and more.

Washington Summer Activities

Yakima Downtown Summer Nights: Each Thursday evening, head down to downtown Yakima to enjoy free live music. There’s a beer garden, food from Front Street restauranteurs and other vendors, dancing, and arts and crafts for kids in the Activities Area.
Pig Out in the Park: This end of summer bash at Riverfront Park should not be missed! The food and music festival spans 6 days so there’s plenty of time to head out. Enjoy free concerts, delicious food from local restaurants, as well as an arts and craft fair and public market.
Family Movie Night: Head down to John Dam Plaza in Richland for a free family movie screening! A different film will be shown each Friday night throughout the summer. Bring a picnic and some blankets to enjoy the movie once the sun goes down!
