Extreme cold weather can be hard on you and your home. Hayden Homes would like to remind you to follow these steps to minimize some of winter’s biggest threats to your home when freezing  weather, snow and ice hit your area.
Reduce the risk of pipes from freezing:
◦Close or cover foundation vents under house
◦Disconnect and drain garden hoses
◦Cover outside faucets with insulating foam covers
◦Fit exposed pipes with insulation sleeves or wrap
◦Turn off sprinkler system and blow compressed air through the lines to drain them
◦Open cabinet doors under sinks
◦Allow hot and cold faucets in kitchen and bath faucets to slowly drip
Furnace:
◦Set your thermostat to a constant temperature and avoid turning the heat down
◦Replace furnace filters
Reduce the risk of ice dams:  Ice dams occur when water builds up behind a blockage office
◦Make sure your gutters are clear of leaves and debris
◦Keep the attic well ventilated so snow doesn’t melt and refreeze on the roof’s edge
With these simple tips you can protect your family and your investment from a cold weather disaster.
From our home to yours we wish you peace, prosperity, health & great happiness this joyous holiday season and during the year ahead!
