Hayden Watson
Chairman of the Board

Hayden Homes company namesake Hayden Watson, joined his father, Robert Watson, in 1992 when he became President of the Northwest Homebuilding company. In the early years, Watson headed up the sales efforts of the company while working side-by-side with his father to learn the real estate industry. After a decade of mentorship from his father, Watson ascended to the CEO position in 1999 upon Robert’s retirement, and was named Chairman of the Board in 2015. Watson’s energy, passion, kindness and entrepreneurial spirit has set the tone for a culture of generosity.

Hayden is married to Kristin Watson, and the couple resides in Bend, Oregon with their three children. Hayden enjoys numerous outdoor activities, including surfing, snow skiing, fishing and watching his beloved 49ers.

Dennis Murphy
CEO

After 15 years as President of Hayden Homes, Dennis P. Murphy was named CEO of the company in 2015. Dennis’ leadership encompasses the Hayden Homes, Simplicity, and WiseSize companies.

His professional mission is to help cultivate a world-class organization with a vision of being the “Greatest Homebuilder On Earth.” His professional passions are leadership, strategy, and organizational development. His personal mission statement is “To provide strong leadership, and support those in his life with conviction and passion.”

Dennis’ Why: To provide authentic leadership and support so that the people and passions in my life can thrive.

Steve Klingman
President

Appointed as President of Hayden Homes in 2015, Steve Klingman has served Hayden Homes since moving to Central Oregon in 2000. Steve’s early years were spent in the construction Project Manager role before using his Civil Engineering background to assist the Land Development team. During his tenure with the company, Steve has overseen the operations of the company including: supply chain management, estimating, IT and architectural design as well as the construction, customer service and sales activities of the company. His capacity to manage the widespread operations of the company has made him an invaluable asset and respected leader of Hayden Homes.

Steve earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Chico State University, California in 2000 and completed the General Managers Program at Harvard Business School in 2006. Steve is committed to ongoing education and personal and professional growth.

Steve and his wife Amanda live in Bend Oregon with their son and daughter. He enjoys traveling, flying, snowboarding and supporting the Niners.

Steve’s Why: To give unconditionally, so that others can see life for the gift that it is.

Jim Sansburn
VP of Finance

Jim Sansburn joined Hayden Homes as Vice President of Finance and Accounting in October 2012, to oversee accounting, finance, and banking relationships for the company.

Prior to Hayden Homes, Sansburn held positions with four prominent home builders in the Puget Sound area for over 20 years, including 10 years as Vice President of Finance and Forward Planning at Quadrant Homes in Bellevue, Washington. Sansburn graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accounting and spent six years in public accounting before entering private industry. Additionally, Jim attended the Management program at the University of Washington Foster School of Business in 2005 and 2006.

Jim has three adult children, Ian, Nathan, and Annalise, that all reside in the Pacific Northwest. He and wife Paula reside in Bend, Oregon where they enjoy the many outdoor recreational opportunities throughout the region.

Jim’s Why: To forge strong relationships so that people in my life know they are valued and we achieve a fuller life together.

Deborah Flagan
VP of Marketing & Team Development

Deborah Flagan joined Hayden Homes in 2000 as the Director of Sales and Marketing on the heels of a successful sales tenure in intercollegiate Athletics at Boise State and Washington State University.

In 2005, Deborah was promoted to VP of Sales and Marketing, where she propelled the company to unprecedented sales success and established Hayden Homes brand consistency throughout the Northwest. In 2013, she shifted her focus from overseeing the company’s sales activities to oversight of team development, including recruiting, onboarding, training and development of Hayden Homes team members.

A graduate of Washington State University, Deborah attended Harvard Business School’s Executive Education for Strategy Development in 2005 and returned in 2012 to complete the Executive Program for Leadership Development, which focuses on leading organizational change and developing world-class teams.

Deborah lives in Bend with her husband David.

Deborah’s Why: To rally and support others to spark their confidence to achieve extraordinary things.

Bill Duffey
VP of Land

Bill Duffey began his career at Hayden Homes in 2012 as the South Idaho Director. He has since transitioned into the role of Vice President of Land, where he oversees the acquisition, planning and development of new land.

After earning his degree from Spokane Falls Community College, the Selah, Wash., native worked for various home builders throughout the Northwest and Colorado before joining the Hayden Homes team. His versatile background also including owning and acting as the Managing Broker for Remax Key Properties Brokerage in Bend.

When he is not working, Bill enjoys Central Oregon’s outdoor amenities, including fishing and sports. He and his wife Kathy also enjoy traveling.

Bill’s Why: To share my abilities and resources so that individuals can be successful and positively influence others.

Jeff Menzel
VP of Sales

Vice President of Sales, Jeff Menzel, joined the Hayden Homes team in 2015. He came to Hayden Homes after spending nearly 20 years working with three of the top homebuilders in the country. During those 20 years Jeff has mentored and lead over 250 sales associates, managers, and marketing team members in 6 states and over 40 different markets. Jeff has been a part of purchasing and opening over 120 different communities with multiple product lines and price points including master planned active adult communities.

In addition to Jeff’s position with Hayden Homes, he is also the Regional Vice-President for New Home Star, Hayden Home’s real estate brokerage partner. Prior to this, he graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction Management as well as served his country with the 101st Airborne / Air Assault unit during the 1st Gulf War.

Jeff’s passion of community involvement is shown through his board membership at the Desert Sky Montessori School. He also enjoys keeping busy with his wife and four kids, enjoying all that living in Central Oregon affords such as skiing, hiking, biking and paddle boarding.

Jeff’s Why: To serve others, igniting in them a fire and passion to grow and achieve more.

Mike Newell
Managing Director

Mike Newell, Hayden Homes Managing Director, is one of the companies longest standing team members. He began his career with Hayden Homes in 1993 after receiving his Mechanical Engineering degree from California State University, Sacramento. Mike’s extensive background in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Construction and IT has allowed him to create effective systems and processes for Hayden Homes.

Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and two college-aged children. He is also a licensed pilot, enjoys traveling and is an avid fisherman.

Mike’s Why: To pay forward generosity so I can help people make positive changes.
