Visual learners do well by seeing and reading, auditory learners excel through listening and speaking, and kinesthetic learners do best through hands-on activities. Figuring out the learning strengths of your child can help with things like homework and school. Conversations and learning become more productive when you can identify the way your child receives information and knowing your child\u2019s learning style can help you present information in a way that makes it easier for them to learn. If you\u2019re interested in discovering your child\u2019s learning style, <a href=\"https:\/\/kids.lovetoknow.com\/wiki\/Learning_Style_Test_for_Children#:~:text=Printable%20Kids%20Learning%20Style%20Survey,preferences%20in%20typical%20classroom%20activities.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a> is a great resource \u00c2\u00a0for getting started.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Lets-Go-to-School.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31574\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Lets-Go-to-School-300x295.jpg\" alt=\"Lets Go to School\" width=\"229\" height=\"226\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Let\u2019s Go to School!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It is important that you create a physical space where your child is excited to \u201cgo to school. This doesn\u2019t have to be a traditional desk set-up, but it should be a fun and comfortable space that is special to your child. Here are some tips and tricks for setting up the ideal learning environment:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make it comfortable<\/li>\n<li>Let kids decorate<\/li>\n<li>Use a lap desk and comfortable chairs if a traditional desk is not for you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Creating an organized space is also important do reduce stress and chaos.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify a place where supplies are kept and organized<\/li>\n<li>Utilize caddies, cubbies and baskets to put things away<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Buying fun school supplies is a great way to increase engagement and make your child feel like they are \u201cat school. Ideas for special school supplies you can incorporate in to your \u201cclassroom:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dry Erase Board<\/li>\n<li>Erasable Pens<\/li>\n<li>Scented Markers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Establish a school routine to ensure you are productive with your time, and everyone knows what to expect throughout the day.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Start at the same time each day<\/li>\n<li>Get dressed and out of pajamas in the morning<\/li>\n<li>Eat a healthy breakfast<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Age-Attention-Span.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31571\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Age-Attention-Span-285x300.jpg\" alt=\"Age = Attention Span\" width=\"202\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Age = Attention Span<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Kids of all ages struggle to sit and listen attentively for long periods of time. When you are thinking about breaking up your day, consider your child\u2019s age as a guide for how many minutes they can remain on task. If you have a 10-year-old, you can expect approximately 10 minutes of attention. Here are some important things to remember about breaking up your day:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quality vs. Quantity \u2013 a few minutes of focused work is better than a long period of time that lacks focus. You should only spend 20-30 minutes max on any one project, split in to blocks of time appropriate for their age<\/li>\n<li>Set timers to keep everyone on task<\/li>\n<li>Breaks are good<\/li>\n<li>Split video assignments in to 2-5-minute segments<\/li>\n<li>Fidget toys are effective<\/li>\n<li>Movement is important<\/li>\n<li>Create a checklist of items that need to be finished at the end of the day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Build-on-the-Positive.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31572\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Build-on-the-Positive.jpg\" alt=\"Build on the Positive\" width=\"248\" height=\"228\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Build on the Positive<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Kids respond well to recognition, and acknowledgement of their hard work. Building on small victories encourages continued motivation and success. Brainstorm with your kiddo and let them decide what is motivating to them, so that you have tools to get through some of the harder tasks.
